Two gospel songwriters, Clara Shepherd Warrick and Jimmy Lee Weary, filed a lawsuit against the rapper, along with Dr. Dre and Jay-Z, for sampling a gospel song in the Ross single. The suit claims Ross and others failed to clear the necessary rights when sampling the 1976 Crowns of Glory song “I’m So Grateful (Keep in Touch),” for which Weary is credited as a writer. The plaintiffs claim no one contacted Weary about the sample or compensated him.

Rick Ross Shooting: Rapper’s Rolls Royce Crashes Into Fort Lauderdale Building During Drive-By Attempt (VIDEO) @rickyrozay
Rapper Rick Ross was apparently the target of a shooting in Fort Lauderdale early Monday morning.
Fort Lauderdale Police confirmed to The Huffington Post that William Roberts, Ross’s real name, was a passenger in a Rolls Royce that crashed into an apartment building off busy Los Olas Boulevard around 5 a.m. Witnesses said the Rolls struck the wall after it lost control as “dozens” of shots were fired at the vehicle. No one was injured.
NBC6 reports the gunfire came from another vehicle that was also traveling eastbound on Los Olas, but no arrests have been made.
According to WSVN, witnesses said Ross had been celebrating his birthday at the nearby Floridian restaurant.
The restaurant was also struck in the hail of gunfire, reports the Miami Herald. Onlookers there said they heard about 15 shots.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
Ross, a Miami native, grew up in nearby Carol City.

Former correctional officer turned gangster rapper Rick Ross has come out claiming that he didn’t cancel the rest of his Maybach Music Group tour because he feared the GD’s (Gangster Disciples). Ross instead placed the blame on his promoter, but a new report has surfaced that says the Chicago Police Department is looking into threats the rapper received from the GD’s.
“Never was it due to any threats,” Ross told Miami radio station WEDR, of the cancelled tour dates. “I was just in Chicago a week and a half ago. That’s the birth place of the GD’s. And if I’ll go to Chicago to handle my business like I did I have no problem going to North Carolina.“
Video tapes have hit the nets with factions of the GD’s in several states warning Ross he can’t perform anywhere they are located.

While Chris Brown and Drake’s crew were apparently throwing bows and tossing bottles at W.I.P. nightclub in NYC last night, there was an innocent bystander who just happened to get her head split open during the scuffle. A 24-year-old Australian tourist decided to head up over to the club with friends but shortly after she was inside, the bottle fight erupted and she was struck in the dome. She tells TMZ,
“Within a few moments of noticing glass being thrown around, I saw a glass bottle headed towards me; consequently hitting me in the head. I immediately started to bleed and proceeded to fall in and out of consciousness. [After she left the hospital] I had to take the subway home with no money or jacket. Nobody would even sit beside me. My friends were so scared because they did not know where I was.”
The tourist, by the name of Hollie, filed a police report and it won’t be that surprising if she files a lawsuit.
Meanwhile, here’s some updates:
Drake’s rep is doing major damage control right now. Although Drake’s name has been thrown around as the person who started the fight, his reps are saying that he didn’t do anything wrong:
Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.I.P He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began.”
[Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property.
Drake has a pretty clean image right now, not to mention a new movie, Ice Age 4, he can’t afford this type of publicity.
Chris’s bodyguard Pat, who caught a mean one to the head, was spotted leaving the hospital today all stitched up and ready to get back on duty.
Although Meek Mill was at the club, he has made it clear that he wants everyone to stop putting his name in the middle of all of this. He tweeted:
@Roscoedash you gotta chill b4 you b tweeting my name in some sh– i wasn’t even really in! Stay in ya lane!
Naw we just getting money! RT @chrisbrown: Me and @MeekMill ain’t on that bullsh–. Real respect Real….
Stop tryna blame da bullsh-t on me…I was just there like everybody else
The tweet between he and Chris pretty much proves that they were able to talk their differences out after the fight.
